Fantasy Romance Recommendations, Part 2

The books Caraval, These Hollow Vows, The Beautiful, Serpent and Dove, and The Bridge Kingdom stacked on top of a sofa's armrest

Last fall, I put together a list of several of my favorite fantasy romances (you can check that out here). That list, however, was just the tip of the iceberg, as I have read so many other wonderful romantasies. In fact, here are five more such books.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This young adult fantasy is an escapist delight, ferrying you away to a magical island where the line between reality and make-believe is blurred. Intrigue, mystery, unforgettable characters, and romance to boot – this book has it all.

Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

What happens when a witch and witch hunter are forced to marry? That is precisely what Serpent and Dove explores. It might not be a literary masterpiece, but it is highly bingeable and entertaining nonetheless.

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen

Since childhood, Lara has been trained to do one thing: bring down the Kingdom of Ithicana. So, when she is sent to Ithicana to marry its king under the pretense of fulfilling a treaty between their two nations, she begins to put her training to use. The trouble is, she soon begins to develop feelings for her husband, and those feelings put her entire mission at risk. An enemies-to-lovers romance and fantastic world building – what’s not to love?

These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan

In order to save her sister from the cruel Unseelie king, Brie must infiltrate the Seelie Court and steal three of their relics. To do so, she will not only have to pose as a potential bride for the Seelie prince but also gain the assistance of a group of Unseelies. This book is fast-paced and features one of my all-time favorite tropes: the love triangle.

The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh

Harkening back to the novels of Anne Rice, The Beautiful tells the tale of Celine and her unwitting introduction to the paranormal underbelly of New Orleans. From Ahdieh’s captivating writing to the star-crossed romance between the story’s protagonists, this book is sure to delight readers.
